HAYLEE JEAN PRESCOTT'S BIRTHDAY

This was the most amazing day of our lives. It was all so overwhelming and hard to take in. Here is the story ... I woke up very early Sunday morning around 3:45 am with contractions. I had been having some contractions in the few weeks before, but these felt different... they HURT! I actually tried to ignore them and go back to sleep because I thought they would go away because they always did. Well, they didn't. I started timing them. They started at about 8 minutes apart, then 7, then 5. When they were at 5 minutes apart for an entire hour I decided to wake Rich up and get going to the hospital. Rich did not believe I was in labor either, but when he saw how much pain I was in he was convinced. I was so mad at myself that I was not completely ready for the hospital. I had Haylee's stuff all ready, but only had some of my stuff set out. So at 5:00 am, we were packing for the hospital in between contractions. It was hard on me to leave for the hospital not fully prepared, but Haylee was ready to enter this world. We arrived at the hospital around 5:30 am. When we arrived I was dilated to 3 cm. I was really in labor! We could not believe it. I really do not know how some women birth children naturally without pain meds because I was dying! I got to 6 cm before I received my epidural. Let me just say this, it was sweet relief to get drugs! Once I got the epidural, we just waited and got some sleep. Everything went so smoothly. I was so nervous for the iv's, the epidural, the catheter, breaking my water, etc, but I did not even feel any of it! Part of my water broke on its own and the other "gushing" part broke when the doctor was checking me. At that point I was at 10 cm and ready to push. I pushed for an hour and Haylee made her grand entrance! As soon as she came out I lost it! I could not control myself. I was crying so hard that I could not catch my breath. The feelings I was feeling were indescribable. It was amazing!
Haylee was on my stomach/chest for a minute before they moved her to start the many procedures and tests. Her eyes were wide open and she was looking all around. I could not believe she was finally here. Rich could not get enough of her. He was attached right away and began talking to her immediately.
Haylee arrived on Sunday, March 29, 2009 at 2:03 pm. She weighed 6 pounds and 9.6 ounces. She measured 20 inches long.

She was so alert right away. We could not get over her beautiful, big eyes.

We felt so bad for our new baby getting poked and messed with. We are so blessed to have delivered a healthy baby with no complications.
Haylee's first picture with her Daddy.
I began crying again when I finally got to hold my precious baby. What a miracle!
We have decided she looks mostly like Rich with my eyes and dimples. We spent the first few days just staring at our pretty baby. We still can not get over how beautiful and perfect she is. What a miracle and blessing from our Father in Heaven. We love her so much. We can not believe how fast our lives changed in a matter of seconds. Haylee is now our first priority. You only want the best for your child and do not want her to feel any pain or unhappiness. She is the best thing that could have ever happened to us.
