These Are Special Times

We are counting down the days until Christmas is here and Santa visits the Prescott home. We have been staying busy with family parties, shopping, wrapping, baking, and everything else that goes into preparing for the big day. I am so excited for Christmas this year. Christmas is such a fun holiday as a child and as you grow older it starts to lack a bit of the excitement, but once you have a child of your own you are able to be somewhat of a kid again. A part of my childhood has returned this year. All of my attention has been on Haylee and making her Christmas magical and memorable. I had wonderful Christmases growing up. Some of my best memories were at Christmas time. It was not about the presents, but about the traditions. That is what I want to carry on for our family. Some of our traditions include walking around Temple Square admiring the lights, driving to Christmas Street on Christmas Eve and reading the story of Christ's birth on the billboards, Christmas Eve pajamas, baking cookies, watching Christmas movies, listening to Christmas music, and all that goes into making Christmas morning special. I can not wait for Christmas morning and to see Haylee's face light up. I am sure it is something I will treasure forever.
All dolled up to see Santa.
So happy!
Haylee's Christmas dress.

Haylee HATED sitting on Santa's lap. She was terrified! As soon as we left, she kept saying, "Ho, Ho!" and "Santa, Santa!". I couldn't tell if that was because she wanted to go back and see him again or because she was angry with him (or me).
Haylee did stop crying for a brief moment when Santa started telling her he could bring her a baby doll to rock. She got pretty excited, then looked at Santa and remembered what was happening and started to cry again.
Poor Santa. He stayed so calm with a screaming kid on his lap. I am sure he is very use to it by now!
This one makes me feel bad. Like I am a bad Mom for torturing my child to sit on Santa's lap for a silly picture. Poor girl. Every Mom does it though, right? That is what I keep telling myself.

I hope everyone has a Merry and Magical Christmas! I know I will!

It has been several months since I have made a blog post ... Haylee has changed so much since the last post that you may not recognize her. She is not a baby anymore, but turning into a little girl. She is our little princess who keeps us laughing everyday! She has such a fun personality and it shows in these photos!

Easter 2010

I was a little disappointed that we were not able to attend church on Easter Sunday this year due to General Conference. However, I do enjoy listening to conference and I am always in need of the words and lessons that come from it. I was just looking forward to getting Haylee all dressed up in her new Easter dress. So we dressed up the week before. We got all ready and at about 10:45 am (our church begins at 11:00 am) Rich decides to tell me that it is Stake Conference, so we needed to go to the stake center instead of our ward. I told him that Stake Conference always starts at 10:00 am and also reminded him that our stake center is located pretty far from us (our boundaries are weird). So much for that! We decided to skip it since we would be over an hour late. I was so determined to go somewhere in our pretty outfits so we met up with my parents and grandparents for a yummy breakfast instead. Here are some pics of Haylee in her Easter dress. Haylee is such a happy girl!
Well, maybe not always happy! She was getting irritated with me making her stand there so I could get a complete view of her.
Fast forward .... Easter Sunday up at my parent's cabin in Bear Lake. Here are Haylee's gifts from the Easter Bunny. Where is her Easter basket you ask? Well, it got left at home. Ooops! I checked at Wal-Mart in Evanston, WY on our way up to Bear Lake and they were completely out! I was so disappointed! She got some stacking blocks, two books, two movies, a fuzzy bunny friend, and some Fisher Price Little People.
"Is this for me? Are you sure? Can I open it?"
We tried to do an Easter egg hunt for Haylee, but it did not work out so great. She found the first egg and was satisfied. No need to find more. She was not even interested in what was inside. She just wanted to shake them and listen to the noise she was creating. I am trying to figure out Haylee's fascination with her Grandpa Craig. Maybe it is because he puts her in cardboard boxes and pushes her all around? It is a possibility for sure.
Haylee LOVES Grandpa! She has to be near him at all times and if he walks away without her at his side, she has a meltdown! They have so much fun together! Just playin'! Do you notice what she is holding in her right hand? Yes, it is a binkie that belongs to a doll that belongs at the cabin. She held on to it the entire time we were there. She ate with it, bathed with it, and slept with it. I have no clue what is so great about a binkie you can not suck? All I know is that the binkie had to come home with us.

Haylee's First Birthday

The Cupcake Cake I made! It had its challenges, but it turned out perfect!
I made about 4 dozen cupcakes for all of our guests. I did not think they would want any of Haylee's cake after she had her way with it! We rented Casey and Ashlee's clubhouse and it was perfect! We held the party the day before her actual birthday on March 28th.

Ashlee helped me make a "Birthday Girl" banner. Cupcakes of course!
Haylee loved opening her presents! She got spoiled! It was a little difficult with all of the other kiddos, but that is to be expected!
One of my favorite pics! It shows off her cute outfit. I made a cupcake skirt and a cupcake shirt to match!
Opening the Elmo phone from Grandma Tami. She got to pick it out herself at the toy store.
This was the winner! Nicole gave Haylee a princess bike. We had to put it up on the table so Haylee could sit on it. All of the other kids wanted it so bad! It actually required tools to assemble it and that was a good thing because I don't think Haylee would have gotten much use out of it anyway!
Haylee was a little scared and really confused when we lit the candle and everyone sang to her. She wanted to touch the flame so bad so I had to hold her hands down.
She was a little unsure about what to do with this cake in front of her. Rich had to take her hand and shove it into the cake and show her how it is done.
I think she ate more frosting than actual cake. I was afraid she was going to throw up!
At one point she bent down and just used her mouth on the cake! She decided it was easier that way! Smart girl!
Yummmmy!
Her actual Birthday, March 29th. Haylee and I spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa before they had to head back to Bear Lake. We hit up a few quilt stores (probably not the stores of choice for Haylee) and had lunch. Once Daddy got home from work we went to dinner at Morelia then headed to the mall and got Haylee's ears pierced. She sure did not like that at all! It was way worse than getting shots. It was so hard for her to calm herself down. She was so upset! Then, I felt like a bad mommy for making her baby cry on her birthday. Oh! But she looks so adorable! When we got home from the mall, we let her open her presents from Mommy and Daddy. She was able to open them at her own pace and all by herself! She got some stacking cups, some books and movies, and a mini kitchen! Oh! And don't forget all of the clothes I got her. I did not bother wrapping them because I did not think she would be too excited for clothes.
Checking out her new stacking cups with Dad! She loves stacking them and fitting them inside each other.
Opening up a new book! She sure loves books! She likes to be read to and loves to just look through them all by herself.
"Oh my! Is this for me?"
Her mini kitchen. She absolutely loves it!
The balloons from her party lasted for days! She was completely obsessed with them! She would just sit and point at them until we would bring them down to her level to hit them. Rich finally just tied them to the back of her princess bike.

I really can not believe my baby girl is one! This year has flown by! It has been the best year ever! I fall in love with this little girl more and more everyday! She is such a blessing and wonderful addition to my life. I could not imagine life without her. Happy First Birthday Princess!

Christmas 2009 (better late than never)

Christmas this year was very different, but also better then ever because Haylee is with us now. There is so much to prepare for the holidays and so little time. Christmas came so fast and I was not ready at all! Christmas was so stressful and busy that it was hard to enjoy the holiday and relax. We took off Christmas afternoon for Bear Lake to see my family. So, the days leading up to Christmas were not only spent preparing for Christmas itself, but also getting ready to leave town. Christmas day was really busy and stressful traveling to different family gatherings, but once we got to Bear Lake, we were able to really enjoy the holiday and relax. There was lots of delicious food, time with family, relaxation, and even a little quilting!
Christmas morning was special with our angel with us for the first time! We planned on not getting much for Haylee due to her age. We assumed she would be more interested in the wrapping paper and bows than anything else. Well, she did not know what to do when I put a present in front of her! She really was not too interested in anything. Maybe a little overwhelmed. Once we unwrapped the presents and found the toys underneath the paper she got a little more intrigued. She really only opened 2 or 3 presents Christmas morning and I took the rest with us to Bear Lake. Once we were up at Bear Lake she knew a little better what to do with the gifts.
I just had to stick a bow on her head! Mean Mommy!
Looking a little confused, but she loves her little train!
Rich and I gave each other iPhones for Christmas so I was not planning on anything else Christmas morning, but Rich surprised me with some cute boots and some CD's.
Haylee opening her present from her cousin, Sienna. It was a cute outfit to match Sienna's. See the picture below.
Haylee liked the box to her ball popper better than the actual ball popper. The ball popper actually scares her a little! She hates the sound and when the balls pop out of the top, they make her jump!
Haylee and Sienna in their Christmas pj's with their matching Christmas quilts hanging out on Grandma's bed.
Matching Cousins!
