I am slightly obsessed with blogs. They inspire me in so many ways. There are a few blogs that I follow and read regularly. I want to share one of these blogs with you.

If you haven't already, you need to check out Jordan Page's blog, Fun, Cheap or Free. She is also known as the Fun Cheap or Free Queen. You may have seen her on Studio 5 or other local channels. Plus, she will be on the new season of Extreme Cheapskates on TLC this November. Not only is she a frugality expert, she is also a wife and a mother of three. Through her blog, she shares ideas and tips on how to create a fun/cheap/free lifestyle. I recently watched one of her Live Q&A sessions on You Tube, and I fell in love with her! I admire her positive, spunky, and honest attitude. Not to mention, all of her great ideas to save money!

A couple of weeks ago, Jordan blogged about an awesome movie theater secret right here in Utah. You can see the full post here. I just had to share this secret with everyone! Holladay Center Cinema 6 Theaters or Westates Theaters have recently been purchased by Water Gardens Theaters. They just had their grand opening last weekend. This theater is awesome! Water Gardens Theaters focuses on purchasing theaters that have recently gone out of business. Their main goal is to help the economy. They are creating jobs and allowing their customers to enjoy the movie-going experience without breaking the bank. Their prices are unbelievable! The tickets are $3.50 each. All day long, for everyone. Unless you are 2 or younger. And then you are FREE! However, the movies they show are not the new releases. The movies that are shown at Water Gardens have left the mainstream theaters, but have not been released on DVD. I still like them because they have a lot of family-friendly movies for my kids to enjoy. They do not show any R-rated movies either and are closed on Sundays. Now on to the best part. The food. You will not believe me when I say this, but the most expensive item is $3.00!!! You can get a large drink and a large popcorn for $6.00! Most people, myself included, have wondered how this company is even making any money on their concessions. Well, Jordan took care of that too and spoke to an employee of Water Gardens. They did market research and found that 90% of people that use mainstream theaters do not purchase concessions, but sneak in their own or go without. With their prices being as low as they are, almost 100% of their customers buy at least one item, if not more. And it all adds up. I like to support businesses that are helping our economy and have the customer's interest at heart. It is a breath of fresh air that some businesses aren't operating just to make a buck. We should all support this awesome business!

I just had to try this theater out! Rich and I took the girls to a movie there last Saturday. This was a first for our family. We have never been to a movie as a family of four. It was awesome! The girls each got to pick out a treat from the treat tables. Emma picked Swedish Fish and Haylee picked Strawberry Sour Punch Straws. We also got 2 medium drinks and a medium popcorn. With our movies tickets and our food/treats we spent a total of $24.00!! I'd say that is a dang good deal for four people to see a movie and have some junk food to enjoy it with. Not only are the prices amazing, but so is the staff. All of the employees were extremely polite and friendly. After we got settled in our seats, we discovered one of our drinks did not taste very good. I took the drink back to the counter and they felt so bad! They changed out my drink and also gave me a small bag of popcorn for free because of my troubles. We saw Smurfs 2 and it had us all laughing. It was such a cute family movie. I was a little worried about Emma losing interest, but her eyes were glued to the screen the entire time. It was so special to look over and see both of my girls watching this movie with big eyes and smiles. It was the best family date and we will be going back for sure!
Whew! Time is flying! I really do not want to accept the fact that my youngest babe is growing up, so I decided to mask my pain with a party. Parties always make me feel better. Except, I always go overboard, and then I am just a stressed-out mess, but it is all good in the end. I was especially excited for this party. This would be the first party at our new home in Tooele. So this party was a win-win for all because we were able to celebrate Emma's birthday and also have a little house warming party all in one. Parking and space were always big issues for my guests at our previous house, so now that we have both of those issues resolved with the new house, it is safe to say I was thrilled! This is the start of many more parties at the Prescott household.

I had so much fun preparing for this party. I blame PINTEREST for my attention to detail and for going <strike>a little</strike> overboard. The party was a Carnival theme. The food, games, treats, and decor all had to do with the Carnival. We held the first half of the party at a park behind my house. The kids were able to run around and play on the playground while we got the food ready. We ate lunch and then played carnival games. The kids had so much fun playing the games and earning tickets.

"Catch a Duck". The kids fished for a duck with a number on the bottom. That number determined how many tickets they got. This game got a little out of control because a) my "pond" was not full enough, b) the ducks kept falling over exposing their number, and c) the kids did not play by the rules very well. Lets just say that a lot of tickets were earned playing this game. A LOT.

Ticket bum.

"Cup Crash" and "Ring Toss". In "Cup Crash", the kids were given three balls and three chances to knock down all of the cups. If all of the cups were down after three tries, they would get 5 tickets. The older the kid, the farther away they had to stand from the cups. In "Ring Toss", the kids would toss rings and try to get them around water bottles. This game failed. Miserably. No one was able to get a ring around a bottle. I don't know if it had to do with the rings we were using, but this game totally bombed. The kids also went bowling on the sidewalk. That worked out a lot better. However, my cute Dad was in charge of placing the pins in place after they would get knocked down. He did not stick to the rules of bowling either. He kept giving the kids more chances to knock down all of the pins. He must have forgotten that in the game of bowling you have two chances to knock down all of the pins. Not 3. Or 6. The kids had fun though and that is all that matters. It is safe to say that each kid won 10 tickets on this game.

The prize table. The kids cashed in their tickets for prizes after they had played all of the games. I think there were too many tickets dispersed! The kids went home with a lot of sugar. Sorry parents!

Party bags. I had a marker handy to write each kid's name on the bag as they were picking out their treats. This worked out better than having the bags pre-labeled because there were a few kids that didn't come to the party and there were a couple of kids I had not planned on. Now I have a few un-marked bags left over that I can use next time!

After some cleanup at the park, we headed back to our house to open presents. Emma got spoiled rotten! She was a little overwhelmed, but loved each and everything she was given. Thank you to everyone!
Happy Birthday to my angel. You bring so much light and laughter to our lives. Your family loves you!
P.S. Thank you again to all who helped make this party a success. I couldn't have done it without you! Thanks to all who came and celebrated with us! We love you! As Haylee entered the world and was placed in my arms, I was overwhelmed with love. It was overbearing and powerful. Haylee had given me the ultimate gift - the gift of motherhood. I had dreamed of that moment since I was a little girl caring for my dolls and treating them as if they were real. I didn't need to pretend anymore, I now had a perfect angel to call my own.

And now she is four. The last four years have been full of learning, growing, and love. Haylee keeps us smiling and laughing with her fun personality. She reminds me of myself when I was little. She is the ultimate girly-girl which means we celebrated girly-girl style.

We took Haylee to dinner on her actual birthday as a family. The next day we held her birthday party at Jungle Gym's Playland. We invited some close friends and family. The kids had a blast! There were rides, games, food, and a whole lot of fun. Her party started at 3:30 in the afternoon and before we knew it, it was 7:00! Time flies when your are having fun!

I still cannot believe Rich took Emma on this ride. It is the fastest ride at Jungle Gym's and goes around and around in a circle. She did ok, but her face showed complete terror. When the ride stopped to start going backwards, Emma tried to climb out of the car and Rich had to hold her in until the ride stopped for good. We had a hard time getting her to ride more rides after that, but she got over it. Or just forgot about it.

Haylee's favorite ride had to be the bumper cars. She wanted to ride them over and over again. She thought it was so cool that she was driving all by herself. She mostly just spun around in a circle. She loved riding with her cousin Sienna because Sienna would push the gas pedal and Haylee would steer. Well, let's be honest. They both steered!

Unfortunately, Rich worked during the day and I worked at night so we were not able to celebrate until the weekend. Rich did surprise me Thursday morning with red roses and the sweetest card. With help from Rich's family and my Mom, we had a Saturday night without the kids. We started the night out with dinner at PF Changs. It was delicious as always and left us stuffed. After dinner we went to The Gateway and saw The Campaign with Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis. We laughed so hard! It was such a funny movie. We ended the night at Little America Hotel. It was such a quiet and restful night without any kiddos. It was definitely needed. We were able to sleep in this morning and get up when we wanted. I could have laid in that comfy bed all day, but I was ready to see my sweet girls.

After being together for 10 years, married for 6 of them, we have had a lot of great memories together.
I love you Rich. I am so glad I married you. Here is to 6 years of wedded bliss and an eternity more to come! The Prescott Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09482403375633209256noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052324903700033064.post-20168986642672049262012-05-01T21:34:00.001-06:002012-05-01T21:41:54.837-06:00A New ChapterI little while ago, my sister-in-law was recruited by a co-worker to become an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Kristy started telling me all about the Mary Kay business and all of the opportunities it holds. I disregarded the idea at first because, let's face it, I am not a sales person by any means and I thought it would be silly if both Kristy and I sold the same product and were each others competitors. I thought about it for a few days and Rich put it into prospective; no matter what, it would be something fun for me to do and something I could really enjoy, regardless of how much money I make doing it. The next day, I signed my Mary Kay agreement and ordered my starter kit. My starter kit arrived on April 16, 2012 and it felt like Christmas.

Inside was everything I needed to start my Mary Kay business. It was so much fun looking through all of the product and sampling everything.

I went to my first unit meeting on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. I was "sworn in" as a new Independent Beauty Consultant and received my first pin. After meeting with my director, I now have a different outlook. This is a business. My business. And I am going to treat it as so. The more I put into it, the more I will get out of it. I am learning so much and hope to learn more. I want to succeed and make this work. Mainly for my family. I would love to be able to provide for them, but be able to spend more time with them.
Time is flying and you are growing so fast. Maybe a little too fast! The clothes we bought you for Christmas are already too small and there were some outfits that you only wore once or twice and now they are ready to be packed away. You are now wearing some clothes in size 3-6 month, size 6 month, and just a few in size 6-9 month.

On February 5, 2012 you were blessed by your Grandpa Craig at our home ward. February 5th was also your 4 month Birthday and also Super Bowl Sunday. You were so beautiful in your white dress. Grandpa's words were perfect and I will never forget them. You were awake, but did not make a peep the whole time. I was so proud of you. Bishop Jensen, your Daddy, your Uncle Casey, and Grandpa Anthony were also in the circle with you. Everyone went to Chuck-A-Rama after to celebrate.

We took a trip to the doctor on February 8th. You are growing and developing right on track. You had to have more shots. You received a total of five vaccines. You were poked a total of three times, two in the left leg and one in the right leg. You also received a vaccine by mouth. It was like a little drink in a dropper. You did very well with the vaccine by mouth. You didn't try and spit it out or fight the nurse at all. I felt so bad that you were getting shots and had no idea. You did not know what was coming. As soon as the first shot entered your leg you got the saddest look on your face. Then the tears came. And the cries. It was definitely your "hurt" cry. I held you close as soon as I could and the cries stopped, but the whimpers started. You poor little thing! You were hurt, but didn't know why. You got over it quickly and forgot all about it. You did very well after your shots too, just a low-grade fever. It seemed like they did not affect you much at all.

Just a few pics of you with your bright pink band-aides. Your big sister was a bit jealous of your band-aides and wanted one for herself, but when I told her she would have to have a shot to get a band-aide, she quickly changed her mind.

The doctor also weighed you and took all of your measurements. As of February 8th, you weighed 14.77 pounds, which put you in the 74 percentile for weight. You measured 26.38 inches, which put you in the 98 percentile for length. I have a feeling that you will be tall. You may even pass your big sister up! You head circumference measured 15.9 inches, which put you in the 35 percentile.

My biggest concern at your checkup, was your spitting problem and acid reflux. You had already tried 4 different formulas, but were still spitting up with all of them. You tried formula for sensitive tummies, ones with added rice starch for thickness (let me just say that these make the spit up an even bigger mess),soy, and just the regular ones too. Your spitting problem is not affecting your weight by any means, but I am worried it is uncomfortable and painful for you. Not to mention, it is really making the laundry pile stack a little taller! We decided to try a different formula that is more broken down and easier on your tummy. It was called Alementum and it stunk. Literally. It smelled like mashed potatoes and dog food and you HATED it. It was like I was forcing you to eat. The few days that you were on it you were the grumpiest I have ever seen you. Way too much crying for my liking. We went back to what you had tried before, but I still don't think it was right for you. I finally put you on the Enfamil that your big sister was on and you love it. Of course you are still spitting a little bit, but it's not as bad. Since the Alementum didn't go as planned, I had the doctor call in some medicine for you. They called in some Prevacid, but we have yet to try it because they are out of stock! I have a good feeling that once we start that you will feel much better. You will soon be trying out some year 1 solids and that will probably help too. The doctor also noticed a flat spot on the back of your head on the right side. The doctor suggested a helmet to help round it out, but was not too concerned. Over the past couple weeks it has started to round out and I think we will for-go the helmet.

Just a few facts about you:

You have been sleeping propped up on your back during the night, but you like to nap on your side, either on the couch or on Mommy's bed. You like blankets around your face and I like that they help hold your binky in your mouth. You definitely like to be snuggled and fall asleep faster that way. As soon as I lay you on your side and put the blankets around your face, you are out! Sometimes you prefer Mommy to hold you and rock you to sleep. You are getting better staying asleep after being laid down after I have put you to sleep. You have always done well with self-soothing and putting yourself to sleep. Since you were 6-7 weeks old you have slept through the night. You would go to bed between 11 and 12 and sleep until about 8 am. You have been off of your game a bit lately going to bed at the same time, but waking up between 4-5 am wanting to eat then refusing to go back to sleep. I finally get you back to sleep a couple of hours later for you to sleep for a couple of hours. We are going to try an earlier bedtime and a stricter schedule. I think adding some solid foods will help too. I think it may be time to move you to your own room too. It always brings some anxiety and worry to me, but I know it's for the best. You have never been the best napper, but are getting better. You have about 2 really good naps each day. Usually you are ready for a nap about an hour after you eat. Your routine consists of eat, play, sleep, eat, play sleep.

You think you need to hold your own bottle. This was the first time we put you in your saucer. You loved it, but didn't really know what to do. You love to sit in your bumbo too. You just like to see what it going on. You hold objects really well now. Your coordination is improving everyday and everything is making its way to your mouth. You love to play with toys and chew on everything. I love to watch you discover and learn. You blabber and talk constantly. It is the cutest thing ever!

You were blessed with pretty blue eyes like your sister.

I am so happy that you joined our family. I am behind on my blogging ... Big surprise, right? Well, I want to do better. I need to do better. I would like to start by sharing our Christmas festivities this past December. As Haylee gets older, Christmas becomes more and more special and more traditions are created. Here is our Christmas story...

It began with a car ride over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house. Literally. We headed up to Bear Lake for the weekend to celebrate Christmas with my family. We enjoyed a fancy Christmas dinner at a cozy Bed and Breakfast. We headed back to the cabin and celebrated as if it were Christmas morning. Everyone got into their pajamas and we started the fire and played Christmas music. We sat around the tree and exchanged gifts. I loved watching Haylee open her presents. She was so excited and it was contagious for what was to come on Christmas Day.

I sure love visiting Bear Lake and sharing time with my parents. I really hate leaving. I always get sad on the drive home that we don't live closer.

Our next festivity was the annual Grandma Nell Christmas party with Richard's family. The party was a huge success. Richard's sister and I decided to cater a bit more to the children this time around. Our macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets with dipping sauces were a huge hit with all of the kids!

The kids enjoyed a coloring table and they colored sheets to compete in a coloring contest.

There was a lady that was swarmed by children the entire night making anything possible out of balloons. Haylee got a flower and a bracelet!

All of the kids adore "Aunt Ti Ti"

Jeni and Kristy

The next week was "Christmas week". It was the final week to prepare for the big day. Haylee and I spent spent two straight days baking. We turned on the Christmas tunes and got to work! We made a double batch of oatmeal, cranberry, white chocolate chip cookies, a batch of snickerdoodles, and a batch of peanut butter cookies with chocolate kisses in the center. Haylee's favorite part was adding the kisses to the cookies. It was a new tradition to include Haylee on the baking this year. She loved helping and being a part of one of my favorite things about the holidays.

Next was the annual Reynolds Christmas party. It's my favorite party at Christmas. The food is the best part! And seeing my family of course! My Aunt Janet makes these homemade rolls with homemade jam that are to die for! I could seriously eat them for dessert and be satisfied. And don't forget about my Grandma's slush and sugar cookies! She brought me a zip lock bag so I could take some of her cookies home and of course I left without them. I was so upset! I tried a new recipe this year for jell-o. I made a strawberry jell-o with a pretzel crust and a whip cream/cream cheese center. It turned out so good!

We held our annual Christmas program with all of the kiddos. The kids use hand puppets to share the story of Jesus' birth and we sing Christmas carols.

My awesome Grandma. She is 83 years young and can out shop me anyday of the week!

Christmas Eve

We headed to Rich's parent's house for Christmas Eve dinner and our gift exchange.

Grandma gave Haylee a new drawing pad. She has been drawing a lot lately and loves to draw spiders, circles, and rainbows.

Everyone headed outside to leave some food for Santa's reindeer.

Santa made an early stop and dropped off the kids' Christmas pajamas. Santa left them waiting on the fireplace while the kids were outside. While the kids opened their jammies, the reindeer had their snack.

We returned home to put the kids to bed so we could get started on the final Christmas morning preperations, but not until we got cookies and milk set out for the man in red. I am almost certain that Haylee was thinking about Santa coming to our house all night to bring presents and eat the cookies and drink the milk she left for him. The first thing she said when she woke up Christmas morning was, "Did Santa eat the cookies? Lets go see."

I stayed up way too late (until 4 am to be exact) Christmas Eve - wrapping, stuffing stockings, assembling toys, and even moving furniture. I wanted everything to be perfect because I knew it would all be worth it. And it was.
Christmas Day 2011
Christmas morning was pure magic. It was so special. Once the entire house was awake and Emma had downed her morning bottle, we made our way downstairs together. It is always exciting to see what Santa left and what he did to make it feel extra special - candles burning, Christmas music playing, and furniture moved to accomidate extra large gifts and present opening around the tree. Haylee was a bit overwhelmed at first and was not sure what to do first. Of course that did not last long. She went to her new doll stroller and bike first. Then she wanted to open presents. Well, she wanted to open ALL of the presents. We made a deal and let her open Emma's presents as well as hers. It was too much fun! Haylee was really excited to see the cookies mostly gone and the milk drank that she left for Santa.
Daddy's gift: a microphone. I think we are regreting this one...

Santa brought Haylee a "Puter". (AKA a computer, an Innotab to be exact)

After we exchanged all of our gifts and the orange rolls were baked and iced, we left our stockings and headed to Grandma's.

We enjoyed breakfast at Grandma Vicki's (and my delicious orange rolls, of course) and exchanged more gifts. Grandma Vicki was naughty and gave Haylee a Baby Alive Doll. Fortunately, Haylee is still unaware that the doll will pee when given a bottle of water. Thank goodness! I really do not need any more diapers to change! Later, we traveled down to Grandma Angel's to have lunch and visit with extended family. Grandpa Bob was so cute and had gift bags for the older grandkids and gifts for all of the little kids too. He got polar bear stuffed animals for all of the girls. The store ran out, so Emma got a lion! He did it all himself! I was so proud of him!

By the end of the day, we were all exhausted. Haylee was excited to get home and play with all of her new treasures. Richard and I were just ready to crash and relax because the next day would start a new week full of Christmas cleanup. Our house really looked as if Christmas exploded and threw up all over our living room! Although it sounded better to just stay in bed for a week to recover instead.

We spend so much time preparing for Christmas and then it is gone in a flash. Christmas really was good to us this year. We were so lucky to spend time together with family and friends. Before we know it, Christmas will be here again and we will do it all over once again!
This worked out perfectly! My parents were able to come down from Bear Lake to stay at our house with Haylee. It also worked out for me because I could not be pregnant one more day! I was extremely uncomfortable and huge! Emma was definitely out of room because any movement, kick, or punch was very painful. We scheduled the induction for Wednesday, October 5th.

I was contacted by the hospital that Tuesday and was given instructions. I was told not to eat anything after midnight and that I would be called Wednesday morning with a time to come in. They do not give an exact time because my induction was elective so anyone that comes into the hospital in labor takes precedence and they never know how busy they will be. Well, obviously! They said that if | had not heard from someone by 10 am to call them. Well, 10 am rolled around and I had not heard from anyone. I called and spoke to the nurse in labor and delivery and she said that they have had an extremely busy night and did not have any rooms available for me! She did not want to give me a time and said to call back around 12:30. This was not a big deal, but I was told not to eat anything after midnight and was starving and still did not know when I was going to be induced. I called the nurse at my doctor's office and she said to go ahead and have something light and to keep hydrated so I would have energy to have a baby! My Mom fixed me some toast with jam and my Dad had gotten me a coke from the gas station. This was my last meal pregnant with Emma. I got ready and waited. The nurse called me around 12:30 before I could call her and said to come in ASAP! We loaded up the car and said our goodbyes to my parents and Haylee and drove to the hospital in the rain. It felt weird driving to the hospital to have a baby and not be in labor. We got checked in around 1:30 pm, but still had to wait for a room to be cleaned. It was a very active night and day for deliveries due to the storm that had come in overnight. The pressure drops and puts woman into labor. This was pretty significant because a snow storm had put me into labor with Haylee and it had snowed the whole time I was in labor and delivery. The storm on October 5th had not put me into labor, but it rained the whole time I was in labor and delivery. Just kind of crazy to think about.

Our wait was over and we were taken all the way down the hall to room 6. We took some last pictures of my prego belly:

I got into my gown and got settled into my bed. It was 2:10 pm when the nurse came in and got me hooked up to monitors, started an IV drip for hydration, and took some blood. I was checked for dilation, and I was at 2 cm. Then we waited for Dr. Terry. In the meantime, the nurse's shifts changed at 3:00 pm so I got a new nurse and thank goodness! I was told that Michelle would be coming in to take over. I wondered, could it be the Michelle that helped deliver Haylee? When she walked in I felt so much better about everything! It was the same nurse that was there when Haylee was born. Another sign! She did not remembers us right away, but we helped her remember. She was the best nurse and calmed so many of my fears then and now.

The doctor broke my water to start labor. Instead of just breaking my water all at once, the doctor inserted a monitor that attaches to the baby's head. This does a couple of things. It acts as a monitor for the baby's heart rate and also breaks the water. When the monitor is attached to the baby's head it creates a hole in the sack. As the baby moves down, more fluid is released. So instead of my water breaking in one "gush", it drains slowly. This was so painful! I hated it! Once that was done, the Pitocin was started. The Pitocin causes the uterus to contract and puts you into active labor. I tried to go as far as I could before getting an epidural. The contractions did not start out very strong, but were close together from the beginning. Once I could not bare the pain anymore, we called for an epidural. Getting the epidural was so painful this time around. It really was not too bad when I was in labor with Haylee because I was on Fentanyl to take some of the edge off. Plus, I think different doctors have different methods of administering the epidural and it seemed like this doctor was having a hard time or something. It seemed like it took forever! I was squeezing Rich's hand so hard that it was turning red and going numb! The epidural kicked in right away, but did not take the pain away 100%. I could not feel the contractions, but I could still feel a lot of pressure. Once I was feeling better, I was checked again and was only at 3 cm! I thought, "This is going to take a while!" Since I was at 3 cm and it was dinner time, Dr. Terry decided to pick up his wife and take her to dinner since he had not seen her very much in the last couple of days. Dr. Terry was able to drive home, change his clothes, and start driving to Mimi's Cafe across the street from the hospital before he got a call from Michelle saying I was at 7 cm! He headed straight to the hospital along with his wife. Once he got back, I was at 9 cm! His wife decided to wait in the waiting room. Apparently, this was not the first time! At this point the epidural started to ware off and I was really uncomfortable. Dr. Terry had the anesthesiologist come back and give me another dose. It took the edge off and I could not feel the contractions again, but still felt pressure. I needed to push! I could feel Emma's head and she was ready! I pushed for about 18 minutes. It was a lot harder and more tiring this time around. When I delivered Haylee, I felt NOTHING. I was almost over numb! This time around I felt a lot of pressure and could feel Emma come out. Luckily, it was over fast! When she came out, Michelle says, "Wow! That's a big baby! At least 8 pounds!" I thought, no way! Emma was weighed and we could not believe that she was 8 lbs 3 oz. Haylee only weighed 6 lbs 10 oz and Dr. Terry thought Emma would only be a bit bigger than Haylee because I was measuring right on.

Emma was perfect in every way! My delivery went pretty smooth. I only tore a tiny bit which required a few stitches. I was bleeding more than normal so I stayed in delivery a bit longer for observation. They gave me every drug and shot possible to get the bleeding under control. Luckily, I did not lose enough blood for a transfusion. When the epidural started to ware off, I got the shakes really bad. I was shivering so bad! I also felt really weird like I was congested and needed to cough, but I couldn't because I was so sore. We stayed in delivery for a few hours and then we were able to get into our room.

My cute nurse, Michelle

We stayed in the hospital until Friday. My Mom was able to stay with us until Monday so we could get settled with some extra help. The first few days and nights were pretty rough. All you want is a routine and a schedule and Emma was so mixed up between days and nights. The most frustrating thing during the first little while was getting Emma's feedings figured out. I was trying to breast feed, but it seemed like she was never satisfied and would still be hungry after just being fed. I was worried that I was not producing enough milk for her. I started to pump and could see that I was producing enough, but she just had a hard time eating. I like to call her a lazy eater. She would not suck hard enough to get anything. So I started pumping and bottle feeding and supplemented a bit with formula, but I felt like all I was doing was feeding and pumping and with a two year old it makes it that much harder. It was such a relief to hand a bottle to Rich and have him take a turn. I needed that! This caused my milk supply to decrease. After talking with Emma's pediatrician, we decided to make the switch to bottles 100%. I felt really guilty as if I was being selfish by not breastfeeding. Emma's doctor eased my mind and made me feel better. Emma is still very healthy and will be healthy even if she is formula fed and I can bond with her just as easily with a bottle as with breastfeeding. Once we found the right formula, Emma started doing much better and her feedings are on a better schedule. I call her my little porker because she is always hungry and loves to eat!

Haylee did really well at first. I was extremely surprised. She has been our little helper. She loves her "baby Emma". Sometimes too much. There has been an abundance of hugs and kisses and sometimes they aren't as soft as they should be. We did have a big meltdown at first regarding the binky. As you know, Haylee was very attached to her binky. Haylee has not had a binky for a while now, but when she saw Emma with one, she wanted it back. We used chap stick as a distraction. She loves chap stick so my parents took her to the store and let her pick out some chap stick and told her that big girls like her get chap stick and babies get binkies. Thank goodness it worked! Once Haylee realized that Emma was here to stay, the jealousy set in. It gets worse when Haylee gets over-tired, but when we realize what's happening, Rich and I will team up to give Haylee some extra attention.

I think we are getting the hang of things. Life seems so crazy right now. We are still working on a schedule and daily routine, but it gets better everyday. Having two kids definitely has its challenges, but also has its rewards. There is so much love flowing within our family. We feel so blessed to have two beautiful and healthy daughters. Life could not be any better. The Prescott Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09482403375633209256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052324903700033064.post-72593222072241364692011-09-13T17:26:00.000-06:002011-09-14T18:46:45.785-06:00It has been so long since I have made a blog post. I don't think I even made an official blog announcement that I was pregnant with our second child and I am now nearing the end of my pregnancy! I just wanted to give an update on what has been happening with us during the last nine months!
January 2011
We found out that we would be welcoming our second child into our family October 2011. We were a bit shocked, but we could not feel more blessed.
February 2011
I wrecked Rich's precious jeep. You can read more about that on my previous post.
Richard's Dad, Richard Lynn John, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011 due to a heart attack. It was the hardest thing Richard has ever had to deal with and it was extremly hard to see him hurt like that. Rick John was such an amazing man. He was talented in so many areas. He was best known for playing professional pool and winning many tournaments. He was also an amazing bowler and golfer. He loved traveling and playing poker. We do have one regret now that Rick is gone. We wish we would have spent more time with him. He was just getting to know Haylee and they shared such a special bond. This tought us a valuable lesson. Live life to its fullest and spend as much time with your family as possible because it can all change in a matter of minutes.
March 2011
Haylee celebrated her 2nd birthday! We had a Yo Gabba Gabba party at Red Robin complete with a Foofa cake and all! It was so hard to believe my baby was turing two! She is definately growing up and becoming a little lady.
April 2011
We found out we are having another girl! Rich is really out-numbered now! I am so excited for Haylee to have a sister!
May 2011
This is the month of my half-way mark! I had my 20 week ultrasound and confirmed the baby is growing and developing right on track. We are so blessed!
June 2011
My Dad celebrated his 60th birthday! Haylee and I were able to go up to Bear Lake and celebrate with him and the rest of the family.
Also, my Mom and I took our annual Shop Hop trip around the Wasatch Front. We took 3 days and drove to all of the quilt shops from Brigham City to Springville. We stayed in a hotel in Sandy and vegged out and sewed too. It was so nice to be with my Mom for some girl time and have a little break.
July 2011
We were able to spend some time up at Bear Lake. Rich's family purchased a cabin this year so we are able to spend time with his family and my family when we go up there. The lake has filled up this year and is almost to the road on the east and west sides. To actually enjoy any beach you have to go to the North and South ends. We did spend some time at those beaches. Haylee loves to play in the sand, but wasn't too thrilled with the water.
August 2011
Rich celebrated his 26th birthday on the 2nd. I took the night off of work and planned a little surprise party for him up Milcreek Canyon. It was extremely difficult to get him up there without him suspecting something, but the gesture was nice! We got a 6 foot sub from Subway, added some fruit and chips and some brownies and rice krispy treats and had a party. We celebrated with family and close friends. We lucked out and the rain waited until we were done, but got us out of there in a jiffy!
We were also able to head back up to Bear Lake for the yearly Raspberry Days festivities. It was nice to see some extended family. We went to the chuck wagon breakfast put on by the Fire Department, shop at the craft fair, and go to the Lake Town rodeo. It was a blast!
September 2011
We have made it to September! I just celebrated my 26th birthday. It was a pretty low key birthday, but a definatley a good one. I am now 36 weeks along and will go to the doctor this week to schedule a day to be induced. Our little angel will be arriving the first week of October sometime as long as she doesn't come a little early. The nursery is done and I am getting the bags packed just in case ;) Since I am not so good with this blogging thing, the next post will probably be the the birth announcement of our second little princess. The Prescott Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09482403375633209256noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052324903700033064.post-2743751380370827312011-02-10T21:34:00.000-07:002011-02-10T22:33:56.439-07:00The WreckOne week ago today, I experienced something I hope I will never have to experience again. It was very traumatic for me and something I will remember forever. It has definitely reminded me of the important things in life and that it can all change in seconds. I was headed home from work around 11 pm. I had just gotten on I-215 Westbound and was in the right line. I can't remember how fast I was going, but I am going to guess around 50-60 MPH. I noticed a tire ahead in the center of my lane. I remember thinking, "Could I run over it, should I just hit it?" Then I remember looking in my mirror and did not see any other cars so I decided to change lanes. By then it was almost too late, but I changed lanes anyway. I was closer to the tire by now so I swerved to miss it. I turned the steering wheel too much and my jeep began to lose control. I could not regain control at all. It was going all over the place if that makes any sense. The jeep began to lean to the left and I was preparing to roll. At that moment I remember bracing myself with my hands clenching the steering wheel and pushing on the brake pedal with both feet as hard as I could. I am not sure if applying the brakes was a smart thing to do, but it caused the jeep to turn 180 degrees before slamming into the cement barrier that divides the freeway. As soon as I stopped, I began screaming. Thankful to be alive and thankful to have stopped. The next thought filling my head was that I was facing the wrong direction towards on-coming traffic. Luckily, I was in the emergency lane. I began praying that no one would slam into me. The jeep had died so I could not move it. I ended up calling UHP (bad decision) and they helped start the jeep. I filled out a report and then received a ticket for improper lane travel. Perfect way to kick me when I was down! So much for my FREE roadside assistance with my insurance carrier. Why didn't I call them? I am just going to blame it on shock. My mind was racing and I had never been in this kind of situation before. In the end, I have learned a lot from this experience. Both good and bad. The jeep is a total loss. Besides the noticeable body damage, the axles are bent, the front sway bar is snapped, and both right rims are bent. It would cost our insurance company more to fix the repairs than the jeep is worth.
I have speant a lot of time thinking about what could have been or what I should have done differently. But then I stop and think that what's done is done and this is how it happened. Maybe for a reason, maybe not. I can not go back and change anything now. I can just be thankful. Thankful to be alive and thankful to not be hurt. I feel like an angel was watching over me that night. It could have been worse and I am so glad it wasn't. I feel like I am here for a reason and my time is not done. I have a lot more to give. I feel so blessed with all of the love that surrounds me. I hope to live each day to the fullest and will use this tragic day as a reminder that our lives could change in a matter of seconds and to not take any of it for granted. The Prescott Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09482403375633209256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052324903700033064.post-73921293127633157572010-12-21T20:50:00.000-07:002012-02-13T21:07:12.289-07:00These Are Special Times
We are counting down the days until Christmas is here and Santa visits the Prescott home. We have been staying busy with family parties, shopping, wrapping, baking, and everything else that goes into preparing for the big day. I am so excited for Christmas this year. Christmas is such a fun holiday as a child and as you grow older it starts to lack a bit of the excitement, but once you have a child of your own you are able to be somewhat of a kid again. A part of my childhood has returned this year. All of my attention has been on Haylee and making her Christmas magical and memorable. I had wonderful Christmases growing up. Some of my best memories were at Christmas time. It was not about the presents, but about the traditions. That is what I want to carry on for our family. Some of our traditions include walking around Temple Square admiring the lights, driving to Christmas Street on Christmas Eve and reading the story of Christ's birth on the billboards, Christmas Eve pajamas, baking cookies, watching Christmas movies, listening to Christmas music, and all that goes into making Christmas morning special. I can not wait for Christmas morning and to see Haylee's face light up. I am sure it is something I will treasure forever.

All dolled up to see Santa.

So happy!
Haylee's Christmas dress.

Haylee HATED sitting on Santa's lap. However, I do enjoy listening to conference and I am always in need of the words and lessons that come from it. I was just looking forward to getting Haylee all dressed up in her new Easter dress. So we dressed up the week before. We got all ready and at about 10:45 am (our church begins at 11:00 am) Rich decides to tell me that it is Stake Conference, so we needed to go to the stake center instead of our ward. I told him that Stake Conference always starts at 10:00 am and also reminded him that our stake center is located pretty far from us (our boundaries are weird). So much for that! We decided to skip it since we would be over an hour late. I was so determined to go somewhere in our pretty outfits so we met up with my parents and grandparents for a yummy breakfast instead. Here are some pics of Haylee in her Easter dress. Haylee is such a happy girl!
Well, maybe not always happy! Easter Sunday up at my parent's cabin in Bear Lake. Here are Haylee's gifts from the Easter Bunny. Where is her Easter basket you ask? Well, it got left at home. Ooops! I checked at Wal-Mart in Evanston, WY on our way up to Bear Lake and they were completely out! I was so disappointed! She got some stacking blocks, two books, two movies, a fuzzy bunny friend, and some Fisher Price Little People.
"Is this for me? Do you notice what she is holding in her right hand? Yes, it is a binkie that belongs to a doll that belongs at the cabin. She held on to it the entire time we were there. She ate with it, bathed with it, and slept with it. I have no clue what is so great about a binkie you can not suck? All I know is that the binkie had to come home with us.
The Prescott Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09482403375633209256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052324903700033064.post-66236215429665773292010-04-12T22:15:00.001-06:002012-02-13T21:26:18.296-07:00Haylee's First Birthday
The Cupcake Cake I made! Haylee and I spent the day with Grandma and Grandpa before they had to head back to Bear Lake. We hit up a few quilt stores (probably not the stores of choice for Haylee) and had lunch. Once Daddy got home from work we went to dinner at Morelia then headed to the mall and got Haylee's ears pierced. She sure did not like that at all! It was way worse than getting shots. It was so hard for her to calm herself down. She was so upset! Then, I felt like a bad mommy for making her baby cry on her birthday. Oh! But she looks so adorable! When we got home from the mall, we let her open her presents from Mommy and Daddy. She was able to open them at her own pace and all by herself! She got some stacking cups, some books and movies, and a mini kitchen! Oh! And don't forget all of the clothes I got her. I did not bother wrapping them because I did not think she would be too excited for clothes.

Checking out her new stacking cups with Dad! There is so much to prepare for the holidays and so little time. Christmas came so fast and I was not ready at all! Christmas was so stressful and busy that it was hard to enjoy the holiday and relax. We took off Christmas afternoon for Bear Lake to see my family. So, the days leading up to Christmas were not only spent preparing for Christmas itself, but also getting ready to leave town. Christmas day was really busy and stressful traveling to different family gatherings, but once we got to Bear Lake, we were able to really enjoy the holiday and relax. There was lots of delicious food, time with family, relaxation, and even a little quilting!

We planned on not getting much for Haylee due to her age. We assumed she would be more interested in the wrapping paper and bows than anything else. Well, she did not know what to do when I put a present in front of her! She really was not too interested in anything. Maybe a little overwhelmed. Once we unwrapped the presents and found the toys underneath the paper she got a little more intrigued. She really only opened 2 or 3 presents Christmas morning and I took the rest with us to Bear Lake. Once we were up at Bear Lake she knew a little better what to do with the gifts.

Time is going so fast and she is growing and changing so much! I did not even do a post when she turned 7 months and by the time I got around to it, she was turning 8 months. Well, here is a little update and some pictures .... FINALLY!

Haylee started scooting on November 9th. She is getting around quite nicely as a matter of fact. I wouldn't call it crawling because she is not up on her knees. She really just pulls her body with her hands and pushed with her feet. I took the camera with us on Thanksgiving and kept trying to take pictures and the stupid camera would not work. Well, come to find out (and a little late I might add) the battery was dead! I didn't even think of that because it would turn on, it just would not take a picture. Rich told me once the day was over. Maybe I am just blonde! :)

Anyways! We had a great day! It was just me and Haylee driving to Nicole's this year. Sadly, Rich had to work. Actually, I was not that bummed about it because he was paid double to sit around and play cards all day. He joined us around four. Dinner with the in-laws was delicious! I made my yams like always and they were a hit! I was a little bummed that there were not any home-made rolls this year. Not even Rhodes! I do understand that it is very stressful making a Thanksgiving dinner, but come on! It is so crazy how long it takes to prepare for the meal and it only takes about 10 minutes to stuff ourselves. That is exactly what we did! Haylee loved the mashed potatoes and yams. I could not feed her fast enough. After dinner, all of the kiddies napped and everyone else watched Four Christmases. That is a funny one! I totally recommend it.

I really love Thanksgiving. It is one of my favorite holidays. I feel like it kind of gets a little jipped because it seems like we go from Halloween straight to Christmas, but really it is a special holiday. It is all about family and nothing else. There are no gifts involved and no pressure for any. It is a relaxing day to just be with loved ones. I am so grateful for my family. Family is all we have. It is the most valuable thing ever. I would be lost with out them! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I just wanted to list some things I am most grateful for:

*My wonderful husband, Rich
*My precious angel, Haylee
*Family
*The Gospel
*Good Health
*Our Home
*Employment
*Health InsuranceThe Prescott Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09482403375633209256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052324903700033064.post-78815197337630810182009-11-06T13:45:00.000-07:002009-11-06T14:54:30.857-07:00More Bad News...Around 2 am this morning I received a text from my best friend, Lindsey, informing me that her brother-in-law, Aaron Thomas Nemelka, had been shot and killed during a murdering rampage at Fort Hood, Texas on Thursday. I was overwhelmed with sadness and grief for Aaron who lost his life so young and for his family he left behind. Please take a moment today to remember and honor those who lost their lives yesterday and for all of the other soldiers who are fighting for our freedom. I am truly grateful for them and the risk they take everyday for me and my family. My heart goes out to the Nemelka family. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this time of need and comfort. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as well. It was extremely difficult and comforting at the same time. Again thank you all for your love and support. Please continue to pray for me and my children. We have felt your prayers and we will need them in the days to come. Love, Mary" - from Mary's Facebook
"We said goodbye to our dad tonight. We feel peace and know our heavenly father is here with us. We know he is in a better place and that we will feel his presence with us throughout our lives. Please continue to pray for our family at this time, we love and appreciate all of you. We know we will see him again." - from Mary's daughter's Facebook
On November 4, 2009, Mary said goodbye to her sweet husband. Sadly, he passed away due to complications that began with the flu. Mary works at Cogent Health with me. I do not work directly with her, but do see her on occasion. She has grown extremely close with my good friend, Kalee. It is so easy to be sad when this happens so close to home. My heart goes out to Mary and her family during this time of grief. Please pray for them and for all other families going through hard times during this horrible flu season. Please take care of yourselves and go to the doctor immediately when symptoms worsen or a fever begins. This flu hits hard and it must be caught quick.
You are in my prayers Mary! We all love you and hope you will be comforted in this time of need. The Prescott Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09482403375633209256noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052324903700033064.post-15165902071900838382009-11-01T22:54:00.000-07:002009-11-01T23:39:16.306-07:00My Little Monster's First Halloween 2009
Haylee was a pink monster for Halloween. I was very proud of her for keeping the hat on her head. She had to get in and out of her costume about five times and hated every minute of it, but once it was on she was ok. I must admit, there was a grin on her face from ear to ear when it came off. We had to make a special stop at Grandma and Grandpa's to take pictures and then it was off to the party at Aunt Nicole's! Her costume was perfect for keeping her warm while trick-or-treating around Nicole's neighborhood with all of Haylee's cousins Halloween night. Nicole made some yummy homemade chile to warm us up when we were done. It was a fun Halloween!

I had a bow custom made to match her costume because I did not think she would keep her hat on. She was the life of the party! Everyone loved her costume. Everyone's kids came to treat-or-treat around the office. All of the kids were so dang cute in their costumes. I dressed up as a cowgirl last minute. I tried to be a bag of jelly beans, but that did not work out so great. After spending nearly two hours trying to melt two plastic bags together, we realized I looked more like a bag of trash than a bag of jelly beans. Thanks Rich for helping me anyways!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Happy Haylee!

Giggling at Daddy! She is doing great and is generally healthy. She weighs 14 pounds, 4 ounces and is 26 inches tall. Her weight is still pretty low, but she jumped up in height again so the doctor was not concerned. She is still in 3-6 month clothes and only a 1-2 diaper size. She had three shots today. I felt so bad for her! She immediately started screaming and got the biggest tears! She calmed down when I was able to pick her up and then started crying again when she met gazes with the nurse! It was funny! She knew exactly who hurt her. Her development is right on track if not a little ahead. Haylee has discovered her tongue these past few days. It is so cute. She is constantly playing with it and sticking it out. She also wants to touch and play with everyone else's tongue when they stick it out at her. She has gotten very vocal and is always giggling. She will belt out high-pitched screams and squeals, but they have a happy tone to them. She is developing a bit of separation anxiety and will cry when I leave the room. I am not going to lie, I kind of like it. I know it's bad to put her in front of the TV, but she loves to watch Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse. Unfortunately, it only entertains her for a little bit. She enjoys being read to and holds the book just how it is suppose to be held and will even turn the pages. She will look at books for forever! She loves them. She is back on track with her sleeping schedule since getting her two bottom teeth and getting over her cold. She is taking three naps during the day and sleeping through the night. I have figured out that it is imperative that we go to bed at the same time every night. We have to start bedtime off with a warm bath between 8:00 and 8:30 followed by a cereal bottle. If it is a minute past 9:00 she is overtired and she won't fall asleep until 10 and we even take the risk of her waking in the middle of the night. Before 9, it takes 15 minutes. I have really figured out how important schedules are. Her schedule would be a little stricter if I didn't work or if she didn't have as many babysitters. She still eats every 3-4 hours and doesn't spend more than 2 1/2hours awake at a time. That is how her schedule goes for the most part. I recently purchased a bumbo and she loves it! It is really helping her and strengthening her to sit on her own. She is so close now. She absolutely loves sweet potatoes and bananas! She reaches for all food actually. She is really grabbing at everything these days. I am really loving her age right now. It is so fun watching her development and figuring things out. She is my little princess and I could not imagine life without her. I love you Haylee!

I love sitting up!

The Prescott Presshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09482403375633209256noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6052324903700033064.post-72442801778184180872009-09-02T14:33:00.000-06:002009-09-17T12:45:05.463-06:00Under the Weather at 5 Months
The past couple weeks have been pretty rough at the Prescott household. We have all been a little "under the weather" including Haylee. She has started teething, but she caught her first real cold on top of that. She has not been eating or sleeping very well either. To make it worse, Haylee would cough so hard that she would throw up most of her bottle and she would also wake herself up whenever she coughed making sleeping a little difficult. We ended up taking a trip to the doctor today just to make sure her ears were ok and there was no infection. The doctor said it was nothing more than a virus, but more than just teething. She is working on pushing her two bottom teeth through. Right when she started to eat better and sleep through the night, the teething starts. Go figure! I just feel sad for her. It is no fun!

Haylee is getting so big! In her own kind of way that is! As of today, Haylee weighs 13 pounds, 10 ounces fully clothed. At her four month check-up, she weighed 11 pounds 12 ounces which dropped her lower in the percentile, but she jumped up in height at 24 1/2 inches long. Her weight is low, but her height makes up for it so it was not a concern. Haylee is still rolling all over to get around. When she is on her stomach or back she pushed with her feet helping her get around a little too. She loves sleeping in her own room in her big crib, but is such a mover! When I go get her when she wakes up, she is not where I left her when she was sleeping! I usually find her up at the top of the crib on her stomach stuck in the corner just blabbering on and on! She is still sleeping with her hands being her head just like her Daddy! She still holds on to her left ear for comfort too. She also puts her hands behind her head while in the bath and just kicks her feet. It is as if she is just relaxing as she gets pampered. It cracks me up! Everything she can get her hands on goes straight to her mouth. She is constantly chewing on everything and drooling like crazy. She is already wanting cell phones and remotes! Oh man! Are we in trouble or what?!
She is also pretty stubborn (that is her Daddy in her) and has to hold her bottle all by herself with both hands. She holds on so tight so no one will take it from her. We are working on helping her sit up on her own, but she is still working on it. I think crawling is not too far off either. We will see. Haylee loves cereal! She likes it by spoon and in her bottles. It is my favorite to watch her eat. We are going to try bananas and sweet potatoes next. I am loving every minute of every day being a mom to Haylee. She has really attached to me now and will light up when I enter the room and cry when I leave. The absolute best is when Haylee gives hugs and kisses. Well, they are what I call hugs and kisses. She puts her head on my shoulder and gives open-mouth kisses on my cheek or neck. It is more of sucking, but I love it! She has developed a little personality and you gotta love the attitude! She wants it when she wants it. That's for sure. She has also developed quite a scream. To be honest, I hate it. Lets just hope she grows out of it! I love to watch her learn and figure out life. It makes me so excited for what is to come in her development and growth.
